End of the Week News and Notes

Good afternoon Room 106 parents,

This week in math, we worked on understanding equivalent fractions and began working on comparing fractions with different numerators. Next week, we will continue focusing on comparing fractions with different denominators. Students have been working hard and making great progress on their understanding of fractions. In literacy, we continued learning about biographies, reading about Eunice Kennedy Shriver and the beginning of the Special Olympics, as well as about Amelia Earhart. Next week we will begin studying fairy tales and working on our summarization skills. In science, we continued learning about trait selection, this time examining dog breeds and how certain dogs have been cross-bred to create new breeds that combine traits from both parent dogs. In social emotional learning, we focused on active listening, and what to do when we realize we’ve lost our focus.

NOTES:
* No homework this weekend, but March Reading Logs are due on Friday
* No Student Attendance on Tuesday due to voting in the building
* Spring Break is next week. Students return to class on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Have a great weekend!
Ben
