End of Week News and Notes

 Good afternoon!

This week in Room 106 was a bit different due to testing, but students did a great job staying focused during their tests and working hard throughout the day. This week in math, we continued working on area, focusing on breaking down non-rectangular shapes into smaller parts to determine the area. We will continue working on this next week in addition to beginning our lessons on perimeter. In literacy, we began our study of folktales, reading and analyzing “Anansi The Spider”, while continuing to work on informational texts regarding space and our solar system. In science, we learned about the relationships with bees and flowers, the process of pollination, and the parts of the flower that make this process possible.

NOTES:
 - Next week is our last week before winter break. If you know your student will be absent, please let me know so I can plan accordingly.
- December Book Reports are due on Friday.
- We have had quite a few sicknesses in class this week, and I know there are cases of strep throat going around, so please remind your students to wash their hands, respect personal space, and stay home if they are sick.
