2. Tonight is Writer's Showcase from 5pm to 6pm. Each student has selected an essay or piece of writing that they are proud of and would like to share. Writing samples will be placed on a desk outside of my room for families to read. Please do not take these writing samples - they will be placed in their school writing portfolio. 
3. Beta Club is still collecting used books for donations to Bernie's Bookstore until next Wednesday (5/31). If you have any books to donate, send them in!

2. 304 Only: Tomorrow is "I can do" Day, so if you have a talent you would like to show off, tomorrow is your day! 
3. The 3rd floor bathrooms have be graffitied with inappropriate and hateful language over the past 2 days. The school is conducting an investigation into the situation. Until further notice, bathroom procedures will be altered. This is an inconvenience for both students and teachers alike, and we hope the situation is resolved soon and our routines can return to normal. 

No Homework for Wednesday or Thursday due to testing

 We have the STAR ELA test tomorrow, and STAR Math test on Thursday. Rest up!

Rising to Middle School Program

Dear 5th Grade Families,

We are excited to bring the Rising to Middle School Program back for the second year in a row to prepare 5th grade students for the important transition to middle school. Activities and lessons have been developed by our Coonley staff and will focus on team building, SEL, and executive functioning with some general academic content. The program will be staffed by middle school teachers, enrichment teachers, special education teachers, and teaching assistants.

When: July 24th - July 28th, Monday- Friday (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Who: Rising 6th Graders
Program Location: Coonley School Annex

Additional Information:

• Students must be registered at Coonley in order to participate
• Transportation is the responsibility of the family
• Student should be dropped off/picked up through the Main Entrance, Door #1
• Daily snacks will be provided

We recognize that summer is a busy time for families and some students may be unable to attend the full week July 24th-28th. For this reason, we are offering a one day make up session on Monday, July 31, 2023 (9-12 pm). If you would like your student to attend this one day session INSTEAD of the full week long session, you will see an option to sign up for this alternative below.
